‘I’m headed to the stars, ready to go far…

…I’m starwalkin.’


1 year. 12 months. 365 days.

The phrase ‘a lot can change in a year’ is ringing ever so loudly in my ears at this juncture.

On this day last year, I turned 34 & started a MOVEMENT. I got in front of a camera & uttered the words “So what’s up yall, welcome to ThaMonthly.” That was the first episode of my podcast.

Since then, I’ve been blessed to meet with people from all walks of life & hear their stories. Moms, Dads, Siblings. Spouses, Doctors, Working People. Religious, Spiritual, Non-conforming. All walks of life, All either suffer (or knows someone that does) from reproductive woes & the infringement of bodies & rights.

& I love each and every one of them.

This journey has also given me opportunities I could have never foreseen for myself. I started an organization placing free menstrual products in schools & public spaces. I became a writing contributor of Women’s Health for one of the largest digital news outlets in the world. I traveled to Washington D.C. to lobby on Capitol Hill, advocating for disparities in healthcare. 

And soon, I will be speaking to companies on behalf of their employees about menstrual inequities in the workplace.

A day prior to the release of this blog post, I successfully completed my VERY FIRST SOLD OUT EVENT! ThaMonthly ‘CucciTalks’ LIVE! A women’s symposium. This panel of women, including myself, were able to educate our fellow CucciGang on protection of our bodies, our babies, & or health.


A lot can change in a year.

& I thank The Most High for every moment.

  ThaMonthly  9.26.22 V Don’t Deal, Heal. ___ By Chrys D.  ‘Sometimes you feel like a nut!’ …sometimes, you don’t. For the female species, most times the manner in which we heal is not always absolute. Our healing process always has to be amended--or squandered in some way, shape or form. Allotted time for work, school, family etc is always mandatory. But when it comes to self care, we truly neglect ourselves. So just imagine: all of your normal, daily hustle & bustle. Then add a reproductive issue, menopause, or pregnancy to that mix. Overwhelming, huh? Whether you use crystals, meditate & pray, consume herbs, or take a nice long bath/shower, healing is so essential! Years & years I limited myself to just a hot bath complete with a heating pad session immediately after. I learned that the older I became, the less this worked for me. A 33 year old Black Woman with Stage III Endometriosis. Before I even dive into the condition & the DRAMA it’s caused, allow me to show myself. I was a heterosexual woman for 31 years. My periods began at the age of 12 with indescribable symptoms since inception. I was forever getting early dismissals from school--sobbing uncontrollably in the fetal position at the nurses office.
